on the horizon

I love this time of year because everyone becomes maniacally optimistic. With summer on the horizon, life is brimming with potential. For example: it's 60 degrees outside, I'm wearing shorts & making a grocery list full of summery goodness (falafel! salad! pineapple!). Here are some other things I'm thinking about:

+making a new spring mix to play while I drive around with the windows down
+planning trips
+taking lots of walks with friends who have dogs
+hanging out with an eleven year-old who is on spring break
+SPRING BREAK next week
+turning in my novel draft to workshop tomorrow, getting that huge bull mastiff of a project off my chest
+having workshop at a Chinese restaurant tomorrow (sometimes I have a hard time believing this is school)
+all the boys who are skateboarding everywhere now that the weather's nice
+ Mad Men is back in twelve days--TWELVE DAYS!

I want to have Mad Men premier party, but I'll be babysitting that night. Do you think the parents would be okay with the kids wearing lipstick & smoking cigarettes with me?
