It has come to my attention that Ryan Burden actually jumped off the swings & broke both his arms. Even though the slide story is funnier--& pretty much anything involving rollerblades is funnier--I still felt obliged to tell you the truth. So there you have it. Swings not slides.
Unbelievably, I completely forgot to tell you that I saw Jane Eyre over the weekend. It ruled. Creepy, breathtaking, bleak, romantic--it was one hundred percent anti-Jane Austen & I loved it for that.
Here's a good NPR interview with the director, Cary Fukunaga. He says, & I fully agree, that it's impossible to separate Charlotte from Jane.
Charlotte Bronte was the original Goth. I think if Jane Eyre were published nowadays, there would most likely be a sequel involving werewolves. Thank god CB had the good sense to leave Jane be.
