In·di·an sum·mer Noun
1. A period of unusually calm dry warm weather, often accompanied by a hazy atmosphere, occurring in late autumn in the northern United States and Canada; a similar period of unseasonably warm autumnal weather elsewhere.
I love that expression. This September has been a true Indian summer, if a little rainier than the OED likes to define it. New England is still a strange & wonderful place to me (except for the mosquitos, which are Biblical in number & ferocity).
