Today was my first day of teaching. As I drove to school, I tried to list in my head all the things that I've done that were way scarier than starting teaching.
1. Moving to a new school in 6th grade.
2. Going away to college.
3. Studying in England for a semester.
4. Interviewing at a publishing company in New York.
5. Starting a job at a publishing company in New York.
6. Moving to Queens with people I didn't know.
7. Quitting my job to go back to school.
It slightly helped, but I still had to keep my hands on my desk when I took attendance so no one would see them shaking.
Here's the good news: after the first ten minutes, I suddenly felt better. I'm actually looking forward to teaching on Friday.
